How This Works

This planner helps you build a personalised Edinburgh Festival schedule. Here's how it works in four simple steps:

Step 1

Save shows into Show Banks

A Show Bank is a collection of shows you're interested in. Think of it as a shortlist you can use to build one or more plans.

Tap the heart on any show to save it to your active bank. You'll see a toast message confirming which bank it was added to.

Open "My Shows" in the top menu to see your saved shows and manage your banks.

Create multiple banks if you're planning for different groups or occasions. For example: "Comedy Weekend", "Family Shows", "Must-sees". Whichever bank you select becomes the active one — hearts will add shows there.
Step 2

Build a new plan

Click "My Plan" in the top menu and choose "Build a new plan". This opens the plan wizard, which walks you through five quick steps:

Name your plan

Give it a name you'll recognise later, like "Week 1 Edinburgh" or "Family Festival Trip".

Set your rules

Tell the planner when you're visiting (specific dates or the whole summer), how you'll travel between venues (walking, bus, cycling), and optionally set earliest/latest times for your day.

Tickets

Set how many adult and concession tickets you need per show. This is used for price estimates.

Add your shows

This is where it all comes together. You can pick shows from:

  • Your Show Banks — the collections you built in Step 1
  • Existing orders — shows you've already booked tickets for
  • Tickets bought elsewhere — manually enter shows you booked on other sites
  • Other engagements — dinners, meetings, anything with a time and place

Tick the shows you want to include. The planner will try to fit them all into your schedule.

Build your plan

Review your summary and hit "Build my Plan". The algorithm will arrange your selected shows into a day-by-day schedule, accounting for travel time between venues and avoiding clashes.

Step 3

Review and tweak your schedule

Once built, your schedule appears as a day-by-day timeline. Here's what you can do with it:

Tap any venue name to see it on a Google Map right there in the schedule.

Find shows for gaps — the planner spots free time in your day and offers a "Find a show" button. It suggests shows that fit the gap, prioritising ones at nearby venues.
✕
Remove shows you've changed your mind about by tapping the ✕ on any slot.
💾
Save your plan so you can come back to it later. You can also export it as a CSV, PDF, or add it to your phone's calendar.
📤
Share your plan via email, WhatsApp, or as a social media card.
Step 4

Edit or manage saved plans

Go back any time by clicking "My Plan" and choosing "Edit a saved plan". You'll see all your saved plans with options to:

Edit — loads the plan back into the wizard so you can change dates, add or remove shows, switch travel mode, and rebuild.

Delete — permanently removes a plan you no longer need.

Map my Plan — see all your plan's venues plotted on the Edinburgh map.

Tips

💡
Multiple banks, multiple plans. Create different banks for different groups of shows, then build separate plans from each. Great for families or groups with different tastes.
💡
Engagements block time. If you add a dinner reservation or meeting as an "Other engagement", the planner will keep that time free and won't schedule shows that clash with it.

Use the venue map. The 🗺️ Venue Map button shows all festival venues on a map. You can set your hotel location and filter by distance to find shows near where you're staying.
